The MATADOR module

– a fantastic building system since 1976

Effective Noise Reduction with In-House Production and Installation

At Skov Industri, we work with targeted noise control and efficient space partitioning, making your daily operations easier, quieter, and safer. Our in-house produced MATADOR module is central to many projects, as it combines solid noise reduction with flexible application across a wide range of situations.

The module is the core of our solutions within:

  • Noise-reducing walls
  • Machine enclosures
  • Partition walls
  • Cleanroom solutions

With the MATADOR module, you get consultancy, design, production, installation, and service from the same partner, ensuring that timelines are met and operations can continue during the process. We always communicate openly about performance, limitations, and costs before installation begins. The goal is to achieve the right level from the start, not to maximize square metres of wall. In short, we build solutions that work in practice and can be adjusted when production changes.

At Skov Industri, we are proud to offer our unique, in-house developed solution for noise control and space partitioning: the MATADOR module. This special module was developed as early as 1976 and has since formed the foundation of our solutions within noise reduction, cleanrooms, and partition walls.

The MATADOR module is constructed as a solid sandwich structure consisting of two steel cassettes enclosing a sound-absorbing layer of mineral wool. This proven design ensures effective noise reduction and long service life, regardless of where the module is installed. The modules can be assembled and stacked up to heights of 9 metres, making them flexible and suitable for a wide range of applications.

Noise Control with the MATADOR Module

The MATADOR module is our proven building block for noise control and space partitioning in industry, laboratories, and technical environments. The module is a robust sandwich construction with steel cassettes and a sound-absorbing core, ensuring effective noise reduction and long service life.

We handle the entire process from measurement and consultancy to design, production, installation, and subsequent service. This reduces interfaces, speeds up progress, and ensures a solution aligned with service access, ventilation, and daily workflows. Our own installers work throughout Denmark and internationally, including within existing production environments, where we carefully plan pauses and shielding to minimize disruption. The MATADOR module can later be rebuilt or relocated, ensuring the investment continues to deliver value when layouts change.

  • Width: 860 mm (excluding posts, which are 40 mm wide)
  • Cassette (steel plate) thickness: 1.25 mm
  • Height: 1035 mm
  • Module thickness: 60 mm
  • Weight of a standard module: 20.4 kg
  • Weight including one post: 23.75 kg

Over time, we have produced and delivered thousands upon thousands of standard modules, as well as a number of special solutions:

  • Modules in galvanized steel – suitable for outdoor use
  • Modules in stainless steel – often used in the food industry
  • Custom sizes (smaller modules) to fit existing spaces or requirements
  • 150 mm double-post construction for extreme noise reduction or as a fire-rated BS-60 partition

Industrial Space Partitioning with Modular Walls

When areas need to be separated without rebuilding the entire structure, the MATADOR module is a reliable solution for professional space partitioning. A modular wall can be installed as a partition wall or full modular wall, from floor to ceiling or as local shielding at half-door height.

The system is well suited for industrial space partitioning where quiet zones are needed around processes, storage, laboratories, or technical installations.

We incorporate service access from the start, for example with doors, gates, and removable panels. This makes maintenance faster and prevents the need to dismantle large sections for simple tasks like filter replacement. At the same time, modular walls can be expanded or relocated when production needs change, without long downtime.

In production environments, a targeted combination of partition walls, enclosures, and ceiling or wall absorbers provides the best noise reduction. We identify noise sources, measure levels, and calculate how much a specific noise barrier or sound-insulating wall will reduce levels in dB.

For machines and technical systems, we often build local enclosures, while in open areas we use modular walls to break the free path of sound. Cooling, airflow, and access are always considered to ensure functionality is maintained.

We work in accordance with current workplace regulations and document performance before implementation. This results in solutions where noise control and operations work together, rather than competing priorities.

FAQ About the MATADOR Module

The MATADOR module is Skov Industri’s in-house produced modular solution for noise control and space partitioning. The system was developed in 1976 and remains the core of many of our solutions for companies seeking better acoustic conditions and more efficient work zones.

It is primarily used for noise reduction in industrial environments where areas need to be enclosed or divided around machines, production equipment, and technical installations. It can be used to create partition walls, define work zones, establish technical rooms, and as part of cleanroom solutions. It can also be used in fire-rated separations depending on the configuration.

It is built as a robust sandwich structure with two steel cassettes and a sound-absorbing mineral wool core. This provides a durable solution with effective noise reduction across many environments.

The system can be relocated, expanded, and modified as needed, and modules can be stacked up to heights of 9 metres. This makes it suitable for both permanent and temporary solutions.

Yes. Individual components can be replaced, and used modules can be reused, reducing waste and supporting circular economy principles.

Yes. The MATADOR module is available in galvanized steel (for outdoor use), stainless steel (e.g. food industry), custom sizes, and double-post constructions for enhanced noise reduction and fire protection.

Flexible Noise Control and Space Partitioning

The MATADOR module stands out from more conventional solutions within noise reduction and space partitioning due to its high level of flexibility and adaptability. While traditional solutions are often static and require significant modifications when changes are needed, the MATADOR module is designed to be relocated, expanded, and rebuilt repeatedly without compromising stability or functionality.

The self-supporting and robust system allows for tailored solutions that can support technical installations while meeting high requirements for noise reduction, durability, and visual integration.

Over the years, we have produced and delivered thousands of MATADOR modules, not only in standard versions but also in a wide range of special variants. These include galvanized steel modules for outdoor use and stainless steel modules for the food industry. We also manufacture custom sizes to fit existing environments and specific needs. For particularly demanding applications, we offer a 150 mm double-post construction providing extreme noise reduction and fire-rated BS-60 separation.

The MATADOR module can be installed on almost any surface and is available in all RAL colours. It is a flexible, durable, and visually adaptable solution developed and produced by Skov Industri.

Noise is not only caused by machinery. In offices, meeting rooms, canteens, and workshops, reverberation, conversations, and hard surfaces play a significant role.

Here, we combine noise control with acoustic regulation, using ceiling or wall absorbers, acoustic panels, and noise-reducing walls as partitions between work zones. The result is improved speech clarity and reduced fatigue throughout the day.

In open environments, partition walls and modular walls can create quiet zones or phone booths without creating a closed-off atmosphere. We ensure a balanced acoustic environment that supports daily operations, from office landscapes to production-adjacent offices where conversations and process noise would otherwise interfere.

The MATADOR module is designed for companies looking to combine noise control and space partitioning in a strong modular system. Modules can be stacked into tall structures and used as half-height walls, full modular walls, or technical enclosures.

We offer both standard modules and specialized variants, including galvanized and stainless steel options where required. Surfaces can be powder-coated in any RAL colour to match the surrounding environment.

For maintenance or modifications, individual panels can be replaced without dismantling the entire installation. In short, a system that is easy to install, expand, and relocate as production or layout requirements evolve.

Cleanrooms and Controlled Zones with Partitioning and Noise Control

When cleanliness, hygiene, and control are critical, we build clean zones and cleanrooms using MATADOR modules, doors, airlocks, and sealed transitions. Space partitioning can be combined with extraction, filtration, and pressure control in collaboration with relevant technical suppliers.

We design solutions for production, laboratories, food, and pharmaceutical environments where cleaning, traceability, and inspection are essential. Modular walls allow for future expansion or reconfiguration without rebuilding entire areas. At the same time, noise control can be integrated into the walls, enabling focused work even near active process equipment.

We begin with a professional on-site assessment, mapping noise sources, production flow, access conditions, and workplace requirements. We then present potential solutions, expected noise reduction, and costs, allowing you to make an informed decision.

We are transparent about what a partition wall can and cannot achieve, ensuring the best possible outcome. Once agreed, we coordinate with you and any technical partners to maintain the project timeline.

In-house production in Denmark and our own installation teams ensure a short path from decision to implementation. After completion, we offer service, adjustments, and expansions so the solution continues to match evolving production needs.

We deliver projects across industries. In industrial environments, this often involves enclosing machines, installing noise barriers around fans and compressors, or creating quieter production areas using a combination of partition walls and absorbers.

In offices and institutions, the focus is typically acoustic regulation, shorter reverberation times, and clear space division using partition walls.

Reusable Modules that Reduce Waste and Costs

The MATADOR module is not only a technical and functional solution but also a sustainable choice. Thanks to its modular design, individual panels can be replaced without dismantling or discarding the entire system.

If a module is damaged, either the entire unit or just one cassette can be replaced, minimizing waste and costs.

Skov Industri also offers to take back used modules, where we sort, refurbish, and give them new life, often with new powder coating. When installing new solutions, we can take back old modules so they can be reused in new applications, reducing resource waste.

This supports circular economy principles and ensures optimal use of resources, both environmentally and financially.

The MATADOR module is designed for long-term operation, even as conditions change. Individual sections can be replaced if damaged, and entire walls can be rebuilt or relocated.

This reduces waste, time, and cost. We provide ongoing service and adjustments to ensure noise control and space partitioning continue to match operational needs.

Used modules can be refurbished and reused in new configurations, for example with new powder coating. This approach is practical and straightforward: we build for real-world use, not just for presentation. As a result, many solutions continue to evolve and be reused year after year.

If you want to reduce noise levels and achieve clear space partitioning without extensive rebuilding, the MATADOR module is a strong starting point.
